Tips for fall family photos

Fall is such a gorgeous time here in Southern Utah. As a Cedar City family photographer I love shooting in the fall leaves, brush and gorgeous colors! I want your fall family photos to run as smoothly and as successfully as possible so I am going to share some of my go to tips!

1. Layer: Little ones especially are happiest when they are warm (amidst other things). I always say a kid that is cold is the hardest kid to get to smile, be happy, and. be playful. So if you have to put tights or a cardigan on your kiddos do it! Or bring them in the car just in case.

2. Bring a blanket and hot chocolate: A lot of times in between shots kids like to take a break, snuggle up and get warm with a blanket and hot chocolate. Not only can this be a great bribing tool, but photos all snuggled up together in a blanket always turn out adorable.

3. Hair products and makeup: Fall can be a windy season in Southern Utah. Hair can blow, makeup can get messy, you just never know. Even if things are looking calm you never know when you are going to need to do a quick touch up on you or your kids. I would always rather be safe than sorry, so pack a bag full of lots of hairspray and makeup just in case.

Those are just a few of my tips for fall family sessions. Hopefully you found them helpful!
