As a Southern Utah professional family photographer I am obsessed with playing with light during my photo sessions! Capturing light in during a session is probably one of the most magical things and little touches of sparkle you can add to any session! ✨ But it requires getting out of your comfort zone! Here are a few of my tips when playing with natural light. ☀️
1. Use an object to help soften the harsh light and/or cover the sun. This not only makes your subject not over exposed, but creates those beautiful light rays.
2. Adjust your setting to be slightly darker than you nomally shoot. If you over expose a photo that you are trying to play with light you wont be able to see the light rays, your subject, and the surroundings as well.
3. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Beauty is created when we try new things!
Also can we just add how gorgeous and fun this family is! I have taken photos of the Savage family a handful of times and I knew that she would let me be creative and this session gave me so much joy! These are them moments they are going to want to remember forever with this twin boys!
