Over the years as a Utah family photographer I have learned a trick or two when it comes to not only posing families, but making photos a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone. Poses don't have to feel like standing still, they can be fun! Here are some of my tips and tricks when it comes to posing a family of four in a more candid and genuine way!
First I like to think of layers. When changing things up during poses think of placing different people at different levels. For example, daughter on shoulders, son holding mom's hand. Heights can be layered, or for a more intimate photo you can have everyone on the same level.
For every pose I do with my family I will have everyone smile, and then everyone play or snuggle (depending on the mood). Not only will this give me more variety in shots, but I will be able to get those candid poses in a more genuine way!
